Erato

Erato: a concept I made as a collaboration with writer Dahlia Sammarco. Character belongs to her, concept belongs to me.

In her life, Erato was a sailor and a scholar, whose reason of life--and definition of love--was to find new questions and their answers with her companions. Her greatest desire was to raise a family, and pass to her child the sense of wonder and curiosity that had always driven her, so that one day she could share the joy of exploration with her family. After being disfigured and killed by syphilis, Erato became an eldritch guide for the lost, her body morphed into a pulsar enclosed within a protective seashell. She appears to those who have forgotten curiosity, the shiprecked, and to the ones who have lost hope in life--especially ill children. She comes bringing salvation, and a single question meant to light a spark within them: if the desire for life burns in them, Erato will whisker away their souls in an eternal voyage among the stars, as one extended family.
